For the anime series, Yoko Takahashi performed the song "A Cruel Angel's Thesis" which was used as the opening theme. King Records and their label Starchild distributed most of the albums, singles, and box sets. Shirō Sagisu composed most of the music for the series and its films, while many of the songs were named by Hideaki Anno himself.
